Poem 23 of 35

What Dreams May Come

Tonight, tonight, when the colors show,

Tonight, tonight, my heart will glow.

Tonight, tonight, the sun will rise,

Tonight, tonight, my dream is the prize.

If only for a moment I have become the sea,

I’ll stretch beyond the bounds of the sovereign tree.

Hope in sight, shining brighter than the moon,

Shifting thoughts but never too soon.

Tonight, tonight, I'll take flight,

Tonight, tonight, I'll regain my sight.

Tonight, tonight, the mountain becomes my song,

Tonight, tonight is very near but never too long.

If only for a second could I see,

I'll look beyond the sun for a shadow of me.

Twilight desires now to push the envelope,

Wherein maybe I can find my strung-up hope.

Tonight, tonight, I shall look further ahead,

Tonight, tonight, I'll look past the dead.

Tonight, tonight, I'll fear no more,

Tonight, tonight, my home is upon the shore.

I'll sing beyond valor's song of might;

If by chance and maybe so,

I'll learn to trust in the hands of tonight.
