Poem 13 of 35
Shifting Minds
As time grows old,
the gears grind against shifting sands.
The wind howls.
My mind bends across distant lands.
Falling leaves weep.
The drifting tide stretches over horizon seas.
Lightning strikes.
My mind splits for a second before becoming whole.
Growing old holds the keys only wisdom stole.
A yawning sun;
whispering clouds.
Dancing winds chase stars while searching dreams of one.
Rainbows paint the beam
as water shifts upstream.
Forgotten strands hold it fast:
memory and thought.
A candle lit, your face shines forth
before fading away, never to last.
Wishes come and wishes go.
Moonlight sets the fire.
Stardust disperses ash and wings,
sending flight higher.
The ghost in my pen,
the ink runs thin.
Blood thickens the water, and words remain true.
Hidden colors of the page lead me to you.
Shifting minds, shifting through.
