Poem 20 of 35

Beyond the Veil

I have waited here for you ever long

To dance upon the rooftops with a song.

I am recalled to a time of yonder,

Your spirit whispered and caused me to wonder.

Though to me you remained unseen,

Yet my eyes glowed at you so very keen.

Once upon a time weekly letters did I write—

Such a bright future was within my sight.

I wrote to her through mail by letter;

My heart was bound up by that faithful fetter.

Many thoughts and questions I sent to fly,

Always you touched my mind before her reply.

Years later my path led to another—

Whimsical how life led me to your mother.

I laugh at the jest as I move along,

Always searching for you as I continue my song.

Soon now if I can but stand still,

Soon will flourish the glorious month of April.

Life is full of trials and seldom gives a freebie;

Soon we'll be reunited with joy, my little Mebe.
