Poem 37 of 37
We the People
We the people knew of chains
before the dust held a name.
Every dream lit by memories,
a candle burns for the forgotten.
No kinds, hearts not the same.
In the power of remembering,
we bring our speech.
Quiet graves no longer,
wings torn apart
from that dawn who lost her voice.
We the people, oppressed by greed,
for kings of apathy,
soaking our blood to grow more zeros.
We are stripped of what we need.
To my right and to my left,
beloved spirits, born of a star.
We the people, let us unite.
Let us bond together to defeat tyranny
with our actions
when our voices lost flight.
We the people,
let us be victorious with love.
We the people are more than clay and blood,
but spirits born above.
We the people,
our everlasting swan song.
We the people,
united are strong.
