Poem 41 of 43

Solstice

by Nathan Jellerson

Moonlit water falling through a dreamlike solstice landscape as dawn breaks on the horizon

a time offered, a time given to the day—

solar hopes shine

despite my dismay.

a thought grafted into the night,

dreams play the reaper, a trail for my plight.

the day dawn has broken

long before the lasting sun yawned to show his token.

I am human, after all,

destined to arise

as falling waters mourn my fall—

a soul and spirit contrite,

bound by love and endless light.

the moon, now shorter in phrase—

Solstice sun, eternal rays.
